Mable’s Smokehouse in Williamsburg, Brooklyn has many hardcore fans who come for their authentic Texas-style BBQ. Although their reputation serves them well, in order to keep reaching new people in the neighborhood, the husband-and-wife run business needed to go beyond word-of-mouth.
Originally very skeptical of digital advertising, co-owner Meghan Love said that she and her husband Jeff Lutonsky have been approached by everyone to advertise but had the best results when using Foursquare.
“I feel fairly confident that a lot of those people come back, because we get so many repeat customers. It feels really worth it to me.”
“Foursquare Ads are really about your location and what’s nearby,” said Love, “With Yelp, if you search for BBQ and all the BBQ pops up, but then there’s a random Italian restaurant on top of the list, it seems desperate. I’m also able to see something tangible in front of me a few days later with actual results and stats. I can see my ROI quickly.”
Mable’s BBQ platters range from $10.95 to $19.95 a person. Every person who checks in from a Foursquare Ad usually comes with a group, so Mable’s ROI is about 133% on average.
“That number doesn’t even count all the extra exposure,” said Love, “I feel fairly confident that a lot of those people come back, because we get so many repeat customers. It feels really worth it to me.”
